May's World (From The Secret Life of Bees)

May's World

The wailing wall waits for you,

Hungry for the sadness within your heart;

Aching for the torture welling up inside you;

Yearning for your tears to fill its cracks.

Little white notes fill its crevices;

Full of the dread which consumes you;

You can no longer take the torture;

The wall can no longer take the torture.

You feel yourself falling fast

Into a world where there is no destruction.

A world that waits beyond this one;

A world that’s waiting for you;

Only love and peace await you;

Only you have the power to leave;

Only you can take your life.

Don’t be afraid of what lies ahead,

Live in the here and the now.

Make mistakes and have no regrets;

Fight for the happiness you crave;

Say goodbye to your loved ones;

Let them know that this is right.

Walk into the cool night air;

Walk toward the destiny that awaits you.

The wailing wall says goodbye to you;

It thanks you for finally taking away the pain.

You feel love for the wall.

You meet the river’s cool water;

You are very aware of the rock’s weight on you;

Close your eyes and lie still;

And then you’ll sleep forever.
